I LOVE WATERMELON! It’s my favorite snack in the summer. It’s so delicious and refreshing. Picking the best watermelon is the most important part. There are three things you have to remember when picking the perfect watermelon…
1. Knock on the watermelon, the knock should sound bold (if it is dull sounding, the watermelon is unripe).
2. Lift it up. The watermelon should be heavy for its size, as this indicates that it is full of water and therefore nice and ripe.
3. Look for the yellow spot on the watermelon, known as ‘the field spot’. If there is a field spot you know it was given enough time to ripen on the ground.
What You’ll Need:
– Vodka (I’m personally a Titos girl, but any vodka will work just fine)
– Fresh Watermelon
– Club Soda (I like the flavored lime or lemon, but plain is good too)
– Fresh Limes
This drink it super easy to make! Slice off a third of your watermelon and set the other 2/3 aside.
Scoop the melon out from the rind into a bowl or blender. Muddle or blend the inners of the watermelon. I use my Nutribullet – it comes out extra smooth!
Slice another ring about an inch in width and then cut into 6 triangles like a pizza pie. These wedges will be your decoration!
Then I add 3 parts watermelon juice to 1 part vodka to 2 parts club soda. If you like it stronger you can add 2 parts vodka.
I like this combination, it makes it super light and refreshing. Then, squeeze 1/8 of a lime into the final mixture and enjoy!
